Posted by Anonymous on 2008/2/5 10:42:41 (629 reads)

You are invited to the eighth EuroAfrica-ICT (START) FP7 Awareness Workshop to be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on April 16-17, 2008 at the Peacock Hotel, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop is hosted by the Meraka Institute of the CSIR, South Africa, a consortium partner on the project and is supported by the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, Tanzania.

This 2-day event is a key component of the EuroAfrica-ICT initiative http://www.Euroafrica-ict.org aiming at connecting sub-Saharan African and European organisations for ICT partnerships in the context of the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/home_en.html and to develop and strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between the two regions.

By attending this workshop you will:

• Learn about the European Commission’s (EC) Research Funding Programme (Seventh Framework Programme – FP7) in the ICT field

• Learn about the EuroAfrica-ICT initiative and the opportunities it offers

• Present your ideas of EU-Africa S&T cooperation projects in the ICT field

• Introduce yourself: your organisation, your expertise, your experience to ICT stakeholders

• Network with EC representatives, the EuroAfrica-ICT team and the most advanced local/regional organisations active in the ICT field

The event will gather the main stakeholders in the field (e.g. universities, ICT entrepreneurs, public stakeholders, NGOs, EC representatives, international and regional organisations dealing with ICT) both from sub-Saharan African and European Union countries, and all interested in Research and Development in ICT or involved in S&T cooperation between the two regions.

Several networking sessions including thematic group discussions will give participants an opportunity to engage in valuable discussions and build possible partnerships for future collaboration.

Registration for the workshop is free and on-line registration is mandatory.  Travel and accommodation expenses will be the responsibility of the participant.

Workshop details and on-line registration can be found at http://www.euroafrica-ict.org/awareness_workshops.html
