WAITRO is governed by its General Assembly comprising all members and meeting biennially to set policies, approve budgets, elect officials and review the work of the Executive Committee.


The Board, under the chairmanship of the President, consists of two Vice-Presidents and six Regional Representatives.


Representatives of two international agencies are invited to serve on the Committee. The Committee is advised by the Standing Consultative Committee, which comprises an international group of eminent research managers selected on a personal basis.


 

 

The WAITRO Secretariat, consisting of the Secretary-General and staff, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Association's activities and for the conducts of the day-to-day business of the Association. The Secretariat is located in Shah Alam, MALAYSIA at SIRIM Berhad

 

SIRIM Berhad, a Malaysian leader in standardisation and quality and a pioneer in industrial research and development, has been appointed as the Secretariat for WAITRO since October 2002. It has placed the company in a leading role in promoting the application of new technological development among some 150 member organisations in over 70 countries.

As a knowledge-based organisation, SIRIM Berhad is committed towards the pursuit of technological excellence through local and international collaboration. The three main business portfolios of SIRIM Berhad are Research and Technology Development, Quality and Standardisation and Technology Transfer. The Research & Technology Development portfolio includes strategic research, contract research and development projects. The product lines of the Quality and Standardisation portfolio are testing, certification, national standards development, measurement and Intellectual Property. Technology Transfer portfolio includes SME development, commercialisation of research findings, information services, consulting, technology sourcing and evaluation, and technology forecasting.

 

Assisting the Secretariat are the Regional Focal Points.
